Srinagar May 10 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, senior Hurriyet leader, Syed Ali Gilani reiterating his stand on right to self-determination, has said that the people of Kashmir should be given their right to decide their future by themselves.
Syed Ali Gilani while addressing a public gathering at Zainakadal Chowk in Srinagar said that hollow pledges were not the solution but a diversion from the Kashmir cause.
Urging people to remain united, the Hurriyet leader said, “The division will weaken our cause and also help the enemy to further strengthen its base in the occupied territory.”
Syed Ali Gilani maintained that he was not against the talks, adding that New Delhi should accept Kashmir as disputed territory, withdraw special powers given to troops, revoke Disturbed Areas Act and release all the political prisoners.
Terming so-called assembly elections as a tool of propaganda used by India on international forum, Syed Ali Gilani said, “ All of us need to be cautious about the designs of India and we should refrain from participating in the polls. We cannot betray the martyrs,” adding, “India is only buying time and befooling people.”
