Srinagar, May 14 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the residents of Bore village in Kupwara held a protest demonstration to press for their demand of adequate rehabilitation.
On December 8, 1990, Indian Army forced the entire population of the village to leave. These families have been living in Harie and Kralpora areas of the district in miserable conditions since the time of their displacement.
The residents have approached the army officials through high court of the occupied territory to allow them to go back. In response to a court notice, the army has categorically refused them permission for return.
The protesting villagers pointed out that their native village had been turned into a no man’s land by the army. “Army has planted landmines around the village and do not allow us a glimpse of our homes,” said Abdul Razak Butt of Bore village, who was leading the protest demonstration.
The demonstrators said, “The migration has put them in a lot of trouble. Our children have no future. We put in hard work as labourers, pay the rent to owners of buildings where we live,” adding that they had knocked at every door but were being denied their birthright.
