Elections in IHK not substitute to plebiscite: Gilani

Srinagar, May 19 (KMS): Senior Kashmiri Hurriyet leader, Syed Ali Gilani has emphasised that so-called elections in occupied Kashmir are aimed at strengthening India’s illegal occupation.

Syed Ali Gilani was addressing a seminar in Srinagar. He said that elections have no meaning when people have to cast their vote under the shadow of gun.

The Hurriyet leader maintained that Kashmiris have rendered unparalleled sacrifices for their right to self-determination, adding that the participation in the elections would be a betrayal with these sacrifices.

Coming hard at pro-India political parties, Syed Ali Gilani pointed out that these parties were misleading people by talking about tulip gardens, roads and bridges, adding that none of these parties were concerned about the human rights violations being committed by Indian troops.

Syed Ali Gilani said that India was exploiting the resources of Jammu and Kashmir on the pretext of development, adding, “Our economy is continuously being drained by India, which generates revenue in crores from the occupied territory.”
