Washington, July 01 (KMS): The Executive Director of Kashmir Centre Washington, Dr Ghulam Nabi Fai has strongly condemned the use of brute force by the Indian troops and police against the peaceful demonstrators protesting against the transfer of their land to non-state subjects in occupied Kashmir.
In a statement in Washington Dr Fai said that these protests are the largest demonstrations in recent years and are reminiscent of the massive peaceful civilian marches in the early 1990's. He emphasized that the land grab is an attempt to change the demographic composition of the occupied territory.
Dr Fai pointed out that the movement is not communal because the majority community (Muslims) provided basic necessities to the Yatris while they were heading home during this unrest in occupied Kashmir. He urged the people of Kashmir to support the programmes of Action Committee Against Land Transfer (ACALT) to achieve their basic right of self-determination.
Dr. Fai also called for finding a just and lasting solution to the Kashmir dispute through tripartite talks between India, Pakistan and the genuine leadership of Kashmiris.
