Srinagar, August 28 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, more than a dozen people, including some liberation leaders, were arrested as curfew remained in force for the fifth consecutive day except for a brief two-hour relaxation in some parts of the occupied territory.
Those who were arrested included Tehreeki-i-Hurriyat leader, Mir Hafizullah and Mirwaiz of South Kashmir, Qazi Yasir. Qazi Yasir was picked up from his residence while Hafizullah was arrested from his friends' house. Some youth who had participated in the protests have also been arrested.
The special police officers barged into a mosque and thrashed the worshipers, which included two elderly persons, Ghulam Ahmad Bhat (65) and Ghulam Qadir Waza (70) injuring them seriously.
The working journalists and the press photographers have condemned the raid on the residence of special correspondent of ‘The Hindu’.
The troops also raided the house of an editor of a local news agency, United News Service, at Hubby Colony, Lal Bazar.
