Dozens held for raising pro-freedom, pro-Pak slogans in Srinagar

Srinagar, June 16 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, Indian troops arrested scores of football fans for shouting pro-freedom and pro-Pakistan slogans during the final match of JK Bank 62nd Santosh Trophy held at Bakshi Stadium in Srinagar.

Amidst tight security and charged atmosphere, sloganeering by hundreds of spectators reverberated the jam-packed stadium during the match witnessed by puppet Chief Minister, Ghulam Nabi Azad, Indian Minister of Information and Broadcasting, Priya Ranjan Dasmunshi and other dignitaries including senior bureaucrats and police officials.

Spectators present in general stand, opposite to the VIP gallery, raised pro-liberation and pro-Pakistan slogans (Hum Kya Chahte Azadi and Jeeve Jeeve Pakistan). The slogans were echoing from every corner of the stadium and police was unable to trace the persons involved in sloganeering.

Indian police personnel and paramilitary forces deployed in the Stadium swung into action and arrested at least 15 youth. “The Indian troops randomly picked up several youths during the parade to some unknown destinations,” witnesses told media men.

Troops also arrested Showkat Murtaza, Tariq Ahmad and Mohammad Anwar Lone from Bapora in Bandipure.

Meanwhile, a seven-year-old boy Murtaza Nazir Laway was injured with an explosives substance at Manzgam in Kulgam.
