Curfew imposed in Srinagar

Srinagar, February 05 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the puppet authorities imposed curfew in Srinagar city, today, to stop the All Parties Hurriyet Conference and other pro-liberation organizations to hold special functions to mark the Kashmir Solidarity Day as the Gratitude and Prayer Day. The APHC has announced to observe the Day as the Gratitude and Prayer Day to express thanks to the government and the people of Pakistan for their unwavering support for the Kashmir cause.

The APHC spokesman said, the authorities have imposed curfew in Srinagar city and no one is being allowed to come out of his house while additional police contingents have been deployed outside the residence of the APHC Chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and his movement has been restricted. Other Hurriyet leaders including the Chairperson of Mass Movement, Farida Bahenji have been placed under house arrest.

On the other hand, the authorities have arrested at least 70 people, including Hurriyet leaders, Shabbir Ahmad Shah, Nayeem Ahmad Khan, Firdous Ahmad Shah and Rafiq Ahmad Ganai.

The District Commissioner Srinagar Me'raj Ahmad Kakroo had announced restriction on gathering of four or more people in Srinagar district on Wednesday. “We have imposed restrictions in whole of the city,” the District Magistrate, told media men late Wednesday night.

No vehicle is being allowed to ply on the road.  Additional CRPF and Police deployment are ubiquitous in interior localities of the city including Rainawari, Gojwara, Hawal, Zaina Kadal, Nawakadal, Kak Sarai and other adjoining areas. »
