Crippling strike in IHK on Indian President’s visit

Srinagar, May 24 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, crippling strike was observed, today to protest against Indian President, Pratibha Patil's five day visit to the territory.

Call for the strike was given by senior Kashmiri Hurriyet leader, Syed Ali Gilani to convey to the world that India had illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir and it continued to do so by unleashing worst kind of state terrorism. In Srinagar and other district and tehsil headquarters of the occupied territory, all business establishments, educational institutions, courts, government and private offices remained closed and transport was off the road.

Syed Ali Gilani maintained that there was no justification for Indian President’s visit as her country was continuously refusing to give Kashmiris their right to self-determination.

The Kashmir University students announced to boycott the inaugural ceremony of the University’s Institute of Kashmir Studies, scheduled to be formally thrown open by the Indian President on Monday. A delegation of students talking to media men in Srinagar deplored that the visit had created a war like situation and thousands of students residing in the University hostel had been ordered to leave the campus.

Meanwhile, the APHC leader, Ghulam Ahmed Mir talking to mediamen in Srinagar revealed that during a survey 3653 nameless graves had been discovered at different places in Poonch and Rajouri districts.

A delegation of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front led by the party Chairman, Muhammad Yasin Malik visited Samba in Jammu and condoled the recent killing of a human rights activist, Hoshyar Singh and his wife.
