Resistance against Indian occupation to continue
Srinagar, July 05 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, normal life came to a standstill today, due to complete strike in protest against the attack on the life of senior APHC leader, Shabbir Ahmad Shah by Indian troops yesterday in Srinagar and destruction of Muslims’ properties in Jammu by Hindu extremists.
Call for the strike was given by the APHC Chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and senior Kashmiri Hurriyet leader, Syed Ali Gilani, which was supported by the Kashmir Bar Association. All business centres, educational institutions, government and semi-government offices remained closed and traffic was off the road.
Meanwhile, a young boy succumbed to his injuries after being critically injured by Indian police firing at Nowhatta in Srinagar, the other day. A large number of people participated in his funeral at Mazar-e-Shuda in Eidhgah. Later, shouting full-throated pro-liberation and anti-India slogans, people marched from Mazar-e-Shuda to Nawab bazaar.
Mirwaiz Umar Farooq visited Nawab Bazaar to pay homage to the martyred youth. Addressing a public gathering on the occasion, the APHC Chairman condemned the continued Indian state terrorism and said that the people of Kashmir would continue their struggle, despite all odds. He also visited Soura hospital in Srinagar to inquire about the health of Shabbir Ahmed Shah.
The Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front, Muhammad Yasin Malik while visiting the residence of the martyred youth said that India could not suppress the genuine voice of Kashmiris through its military might.
On the other hand, eyewitnesses while talking to mediamen said that the Deputy Inspector General of Indian Centre Reserve Police Force was clearly heard ordering his sub-ordinates to shoot Shabbir Ahmed Shah while he was leading a big procession. It was this moment that tear gas shells were fired aiming at him and he was beaten with batons and gun butts.
