Call for complete shutdown on Feb 11 in IHK

Srinagar, February 02 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, liberation leader Javed Ahmad Mir has appealed the Kashmiri people to observe complete shutdown on February 11 to commemorate the martyrdom anniversary of prominent Kashmiri liberation leader, Muhammad Maqbool Butt.

Javed Ahmad Mir in a statement issued in Srinagar demanded that New Delhi should hand over the mortal remains of Shaheed Maqbool Bhat to the people of Valley for his respectable burial.

“Maqbool Bhat was sent to gallows on February 11, 1984, in Tihar Jail, New Delhi. His mortal remains were also laid to rest inside the Tihar Jail. Since that day, the people of Kashmir have been demanding that his mortal remains should be shifted to Valley,” he maintained.

He also condemned the shifting of Kashmiri detainees to Jammu jails and terming it as the frustration of the occupation authorities.
