Brothers pay for sister’s marriage in IHK

Srinagar, July 31 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, three brothers of a Kashmiri widow are languishing in Srinagar Central Jail for the offence that their sister was married to a Mujahid Commander.

The ostracized widow, Mubeena who was released after an intensive interrogation of three weeks last Saturday, told mediamen in Srinagar, “I am under a virtual house arrest and have been directed by the police personnel not to move out without seeking their permission.” Mubeena was arrested immediately when her husband identified as Atif was killed during military operation at Sangam in Pulwama on July 3.

Mubeena said, “I am ruined but have no qualms with anybody. I was destined to lose my life partner at this age. What aggrieves me is the trail of miseries that have been inflicted upon my parent’s family. My three brothers have been jailed for none of their faults,” she said.

Fazi, the mother of Mubeena said, “A large contingent of police and paramilitary troopers raided their house at the twilight on that fateful day at Daulatpora in Chadoora and arrested my three sons, Tasveer, Irfan and Ishfaq. What was their sin,” she said in a choked voice.

The trio, according to their neighbours, is studying in BA part II, intermediate and grade nine. “Our latest information is that they are lodged in Central Jail Srinagar,” the neighbours said.
