Srinagar, July 05 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, liberation leaders and organizations have strongly condemned the lethal attack on APHC leader Shabbir Ahmed Shah and use of brute force on the people by Indian troops and police.
Shabbir Ahmed Shah was critically injured when Indian troops made an attack on his life while he was leading a big procession outside Dargah Hazratbal.
Terming the attack as a murderous assault, the APHC Chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq while talking to a local daily said that the act has exposed the frustration of Indian government after the mass uprising against the land transfer issue. He further said, “This was the conscious use of ruthless force by the troops and police on peaceful protesters. The Mirwaiz deplored that in Jammu, police was behaving mildly and were giving free hand to communal forces to attack Muslims and vandalize their property.
Nayeem Ahmed Khan, APHC leader, while condemning the police action against Shabbir Ahmed Shah and other Hurriyet leaders said, “India wants to muzzle every such voice in Kashmir which represents the popular sentiment.
Hurriyet leader, Azam Inqilabi while condemning the police act said, “This will vitiate the atmosphere further in the occupied territory and the government of India will be responsible for the consequences.”
Chairperson of Dukhtaran-i-Millat, Asiya Andrabi said that the troops had been doing the same for past 10 days. “They have been beating Kashmiris ruthlessly. Recent uprising has proved that Indian agencies have failed to turn the tide in their favour. India is feeling that Kashmir is slipping out of their hands. This is why ruthless force is being used on peaceful demonstrations,” she added.
Meanwhile, APHC-AJK has also condemned the attack on Shabir Ahmed Shah. Terming it as naked aggression, APHC leader, Mehmood Ahmed Saghar said the assault on Hurriyet leaders and the peaceful protesters was worst example of state terrorism. He added that India would not be able to suppress the popular sentiment of Kashmiri people by using its military might. He regretted that India on one hand is talking of peaceful settlement of the dispute while on the other it has let loose its troops to unleash terror across the territory.
