APHC sets up legal cell in Srinagar

Srinagar, May 06 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the All Parties Hurriyet Conference (APHC) has set up a legal cell in Srinagar to fight cases of fake encounters, custodial killings and illegal detention of political prisoners.

Senior APHC leader, Shabbir Ahmed Shah in a media interview in Srinagar said that the Hurriyet has hired the services of lawyers in occupied Kashmir in this connection. “In the first phase, the legal cell would look into the cases of detainees and in the second phase, the cell would plead the cases of custodial killings and fake encounters,” he said, adding that apart from establishing the legal cell in Srinagar, the APHC has also set up branch offices of the cell in all district headquarters.

Shabbir Ahmed Shah maintained that the APHC has also hired experienced lawyers in New Delhi who are supposed to look after the cases of the detainees languishing in different Indian jails.

The APHC leader pointed out that the petitioner would not be charged any amount as the Hurriyet would be taking care of all legal formalities.
