Srinagar, May 04 (KMS): On the World Press Freedom Day, the Chairman of All Parties Hurriyet Conference, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has hailed the media fraternity of occupied Kashmir for working in difficult times.

The APHC Chairman while addressing Hurriyet activists in Srinagar said that media is the fourth pillar of democracy and it has assumed a great importance in present times.

Appreciating the role of journalists in covering news and providing analysis and interpretations of events, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq said that in spite of relentless untoward circumstances, the journalists of both electronic and print media have performed a great deal of professional duties in the occupied territory by displaying highest standards of ethics of journalism.

The APHC Chairman pointed out that it was unfortunate that even today few countries were trying to curb the freedom of press, which was highly condemnable.
