Srinagar, August 18 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the Chairman of All Parties Hurriyet Conference, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and senior Kashmiri Hurriyet leader Syed Ali Gilani have called for ‘Eidgah Chalo’ on Friday where the future programmes will be announced.
Addressing a joint press conference here Mirwaiz appealed to the people to carry forward the “freedom” struggle peacefully. He also called upon the shopkeepers and transporters to hoist black flags as a mark of protest during the three days of relaxation in strike from Tuesday to Thursday. “Similarly government employees should wear a black strip in offices”, he added.
Mirwaiz urged the people to hold peaceful demonstrations during these days after Maghrib prayers to Isha. He said that people should take out torch-bearing processions in their respective localities.
Expressing serious concerns over the plight of Muslims of Jammu division, the APHC Chairman said, “Village Defence Committees and troopers have let loose a reign of terror on Muslims in Kishtwar, Poonch and other areas of Jammu division.
Mirwaiz appealed to the people believing in humanity and democracy to come forward and raise their voice against the brutalities of its troops in the territory. He also rejected India’s statement that Pakistan has no locus standing on Kashmir. “Pakistan is a basic party of the dispute and we reject India’s statement”, he said.
Senior Hurriyet leader, Syed Ali Gilani on the occasion said, “Keeping in view the hardships of the people, we have decided to give relaxation in the strike on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. He appealed to the people to offer their Juma at Eidgah only. “Juma shouldn’t be offered in any of the masjids in Srinagar”, he stressed.
Asking the people to be vigilant during protest rallies, Gilani said, “Indian agencies can throw a grenade or do something mischievous to sabotage the movement. Be cautious and keep a vigil on everybody as government agents infiltrate in protest rallies, he added.
The veteran Kashmiri leader appealed to the people, especially youth, to maintain discipline and protest peacefully.
