Hurriyet leaders, activists arrested in IHK

Srinagar, June 28 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, mammoth marches across the valley, spontaneous shut down and Indian troops’ using brute force against the people including Hurriyet leaders Muhammad Yasin Malik, Shabbir Ahmed Shah and Nayeem Ahmed Khan marked the anti-India protests, another day, today.

The troops stormed and rampaged the APHC headquarters at Rajbagh in Srinagar and arrested over a dozen activists and leaders including Shabbir Ahmed Shah and Nayeem Ahmed Khan after beating them to pulp. Earlier, the two leaders after addressing a big gathering at Mazhama in Magam had led a procession to Rajbagh.

The Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front Chairman, Muhammad Yasin Malik was brutally subjected to torture resulting the fracturing of his bones in an arm and a leg while he was leading another procession in Budshah Chowk. He was beaten by batons and gun butts. People rushed him to a bone hospital in Barzalla where the affected parts of his body were plastered. One of his associates, Noor Muhammad Kalwal was also critically injured.

A large number of people gathered outside the United Nations Observers’ Office in Sonawar and presented a memorandum demanding the world body to intervene and stop Indian state terrorism.

Mirwaiz urges India to reciprocate Pak efforts

On the other hand, APHC Chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq reached Srinagar airport to a warm reception after his five days visit to Pakistan. From the airport he immediately rushed to the residence of senior Kashmiri Hurriyet leader, Syed Ali Gilani where he held a detailed meeting with him.  Later, addressing a press conference at Rajbagh the APHC Chairman urged India to accept the ground realities and reciprocate Pakistan’s efforts towards resolving the Kashmir dispute. He described his visit as a success and maintained that Pakistan was steadfast in its support to the Kashmir cause. The Mirwaiz condemned ransacking of APHC headquarters by troops today.

Violent clashes between the protesters and the troops were witnessed at various places in Srinagar and other parts of the occupied territory. The troops subjected the people to indiscriminate firing, heavy lathi charge and excessive tear gas shelling.

In Rajouri and Poonch also people took to the streets against the illegal land transfer.
