Anti-India demos in Srinagar, Handwara

Srinagar, May 10 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, forceful protest demonstrations were held against Indian state terrorism in Srinagar and Handwara areas.

Thirty-five people including teenagers and media persons were critically injured when Indian Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) barged into a cricket ground at Fateh Kadal in Srinagar and ruthlessly beat them. Forceful protest demonstration was held against the incident in the area.

“The troopers kicked and dragged us on the ground,” said an injured youth Abdul Hamid. Cameramen and reporters who were covering the incident were also thrashed. “When the troops saw us shooting the entire scene they tried to snatch our cameras. When we objected they severely thrashed us as well,” said an injured Star TV’s cameraperson, Arshad Hussain.

“A man in civvies, who was accompanying the CRPF, abused us. This is sheer hooliganism and attack on press freedom,” Hussain said.  Besides Hussain, camerapersons of IBN-7 news channel, Sen Channel and the correspondent of local English daily were also injured in the incident.

At Partap Park in Srinagar, dozens of women took out a procession to draw the attention of world human rights organizations towards the plight of Kashmiri detainees lodged in jails in occupied Kashmir and India. Holding banners and placards the protestors said the graph of human rights violation committed by Indian troops in occupied Kashmir has gone up.

Meanwhile, residents of Wangam in Handwara staged massive anti-India protests against the continued Indian state terrorism.
