Anti-India demos in Pulwama, Sopore, Baramulla

Troops use force, dozens of protesters injured

Srinagar, November 24 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, thousands of people held forceful anti-India demonstrations in Pulwama, Sopore, and Baramulla towns, today.

Dozens of protesters were injured when Indian troops resorted to heavy lathi-charge and excessive tear-gassing to disperse the demonstrators. In Pulwama the trouble started when candidates of few political parties came to the town to fill the nomination papers to contest the elections. In Baramulla and Sopore people protested the killing of two youth by the troops. People at all the three places chanted anti-India, anti-polls and pro-liberation slogans and observed complete shutdown.

The Chairman of All Parties Hurriyet Conference, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq is scheduled to visit Baramulla town, tomorrow, to express solidarity with the bereaved families of those martyred by the troops.

The Secretary General of the Bar Association of occupied Kashmir, Ghulam Nabi Shaheen in a statement in Srinagar, today, appealed the international community to immediately act to stop human rights violations being perpetrated by Indian troops in the occupied territory. He said that the polling drama enacted by the occupation authorities had no credibility.

On the other hand, the 45-year-old civilian who was injured in police firing at Muran in Pulwama on August 11, this year, succumbed to his injuries at his residence, today. A policeman who got injured in a grenade attack at Kangan last week died at Soura Hospital in Srinagar. »
