Anti-India demos continue in occupied Kashmir

Thousands participate processions in Srinagar

Srinagar, June 26 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, all major cities and towns including Srinagar, Baramulla, Budgam, Ganderbal, Pulwama and Shopian were rocked on the fourth consecutive day, today, due to massive anti-India and pro-liberation demonstrations.

The public agitation against Indian state terrorism, its continued illegal occupation of the territory and the unlawful transfer of land to non-Kashmiris has spilled across the held valley, bringing normal life to a completed standstill. All business establishments, educational institutions, courts and banks remained closed and transport was off the road.

The troops while chasing an angry mob at Mazhama in Magam barged into a house and killed in cold blood an innocent 18-year old student. Another 17-year old boy got martyred when the troops opened fire to disperse a procession at Fateh Kadal in Srinagar.

The Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front, Mohammad Yasin Malik led a procession, participated by thousands of people, from Budshah Chowk to Dalgate, covering a distance of 18 kilometers. During the march full-throated anti-India slogans reverberated the interior localities of Srinagar. The troops subjected the procession to brute force injuring dozens of youth including JKLF leaders, Showket Ahmad Bakhshi and Noor Mohammad Kalwal. Earlier, the JKLF Chairman staged a sit-in at Budshah Chowk. A similar procession was led by APHC leader, Yasmin Raja in Pampore.

Senior Kashmiri Hurriyet leader, Syed Ali Gilani and APHC leader Shabbir Ahmad Shah continued to remain under house arrest and the occupation authorities prevented them from leading anti-India processions. The APHC office in Rajbagh was besieged by the troops and Hurriyet leader, Shaikh Abdul Aziz and Nayeem Ahmad Khan were not allowed to come out of it.

The demonstrators fought pitched battles with the troops at various places and the protesters were subjected to indiscriminate firing, heavy lathi charge and excessive teargas shelling in Srinagar and Budgam. The troops entered into the houses of the civilian at Nowhatta, Nawakadal, Jamalatta, Lal Bazar, Habba Kadal, Parimpora and Aali Kadal in Srinagar subjecting inmates to severe torture and women to molestation.
