80 injured, dozens arrested by police in Srinagar

Puppet regime puts APHC leaders under house arrest

Srinagar, June 23 (KMS): In Srinagar, at least 80 people were injured when Indian police resorted to brute force to disperse the demonstrators protesting against the illegal transfer of forestland to Delhi based Shri Amarnath Shrine Board.

The police also targeted the vehicle of senior Kashmiri Hurriyet leader, Syed Ali Gilani with direct shelling while leading the protesters but he miraculously escaped. The police also arrested dozens of protesters including Hurriyet leaders and activists.

Addressing the protesters at Jahangir Chowk, Syed Ali Gilani strongly condemned the use of force against the demonstrators. He maintained that Indian conspiracy to change the demographic composition of occupied Kashmir would be frustrated with full force. Syed Ali Gilani said that the protests would continue until the decision of land transfer was cancelled. The protestors, on the occasion, raised full-throated slogans in favour of liberation and against the land transfer.

Talking to KMS on telephone from Srinagar, senior APHC leader, Shabbir Ahmed Shah condemned the use of brute force and the house arrest of the Hurriyet leaders. He termed these acts as one of the worst examples of human rights violations. Earlier, the puppet administration put APHC leaders Shabbir Ahmed Shah and Nayeem Ahmed Khan under house arrest to prevent them from leading the protest demonstrations.

Addressing a press conference in Srinagar after his return from Pakistan the Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front Chairman, Mohammad Yasin Malik said that India was working on a plan to change the demography of occupied Kashmir by settling non-Kashmiris in the territory. He threatened to fast unto death if the decision of transfer is not revoked.
