Sham polls no substitute to right to self-determination

Srinagar, April 07 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, people observed Friday, today, as the Day of Pledge Reaffirmation, as part of the campaign for the boycott of forthcoming so-called Indian parliamentary elections on Sunday and Wednesday.

Call for observance of the day was given by the joint resistance leadership comprising Syed Ali Gilani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik. They strongly appealed to the people to remain aloof from the polling process.

Despite rains, the day was marked by anti-India demonstrations and election boycott rallies in Srinagar, Badgam, Ganderbal, Baramulla, Islamabad, Pulwama, Shopian, Kulgam, Kupwara, Bandipore and other areas. The demonstrators raised high-pitched pro-freedom, pro-Pakistan and anti-India slogans. They also waved Pakistani flags at various places. The leaders of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front, Democratic Freedom Party, Peoples Freedom League and other organizations including Noor Muhammad Kalwal, Zahoor Ahmed Butt and Muhammad Ramzan Khan continued poll boycott campaign in different areas of Central and South Kashmir. The Jammu and Kashmir Salvation Movement held a demonstration at Talab Khatikan in Jammu against the gross human rights violations by Indian troops in occupied Kashmir. »

Srinagar, April 07 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the Chairman of Hurriyet forum, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, has deplored the indifferent attitude of the puppet regime towards the people suffering due to incessant rains and ensuing flood-like situation in the territory.

Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, who continues to remain under house arrest, in a statement in Srinagar said that many places across the Kashmir Valley were inundated due to water logging and drainage overflow creating panic among the people whose memory of 2014 floods was very fresh in their minds. »

Muzaffarabad, April 07 (KMS): A group of six British parliamentarians from the ruling Conservative Party has called for a just and early settlement of the lingering Kashmir dispute in accordance with the United Nations resolutions and aspirations of the Kashmiri people.

The visiting MPs, who termed themselves as advocates of Kashmir, suggested that the UN should send an independent and impartial commission to both parts of Kashmir to ascertain situation on the ground. »

Srinagar, April 07 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, senior leader of All Parties Hurriyet Conference (APHC), Agha Syed Hassan Al-Moosvi Al-Safvi, has expressed serious concern over the plight of Kashmiri prisoners languishing in different jails.

Agha Syed Hassan Al-Moosvi Al-Safvi addressing a public gathering in Budgam deplored that even family members were not allowed to meet the illegally detained Hurriyet leaders and activists.

He said that scores of Kashmiri youth had been implicated in false cases and booked under draconian Public Safety Act (PSA). He said that oppressive and suppressive rule of India in Kashmir had touched new heights. “Even people are stopped from offering prayers in mosques,” he added. »

Srinagar, April 07 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the Jammu and Kashmir Salvation Movement (JKSM), today, held a peaceful protest demonstration at Talaab Khatikan in Jammu against civilian killings and arrests by Indian forces’ personnel across the territory.

The JKSM leader, Hilal Ahmed Beig, on the occasion talking to media said that innocent Kashmiris and youth were being targeted and killed without any reason. He said that recently students including Zahid Rashid, Amir Ahmed and Ishfaq Ahmed were killed at Chadoora in Badgam which was highly condemnable and dozens injured in the firing of Indian forces on peaceful protesters. »

Srinagar, April 07 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the Chairperson of Dukhtaran-e-Millat, Aasiya Andrabi has urged the people to completely boycott the upcoming so-celled Indian Parliamentary by-elections and give a message to the world that the sham polls are not an alternative to the plebiscite.

Aasiya Andrabi in a statement issued in Srinagar said that in Islam, electing someone who challenges or changes or disagrees with the divine laws is polytheism (Shirk). »

Srinagar, April 07 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the leaders of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) and Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Freedom League continued their poll boycott campaign urging people to stay away from the farcical elections.

JKLF leaders and activists continued their election boycott campaign in various parts of south and central Kashmir. Party leaders, Noor Muhammad Kalwal and Zahoor Ahmad Butt, are running the campaign in a peaceful manner in south Kashmir and today these leaders along with Muhammad Ishaaq Ganai and Javed Ahmad Butt held a boycott programme at central Jamia Masjid, Islamabad, and its adjacent areas. »

Srinagar, April 07 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the puppet authorities have shifted the illegally detained APHC leader and the Chairman of Islamic Political Party (IPP) Jammu and Kashmir, Muhammad Yousuf Naqash, from Safa Kadal police station to central jail in Srinagar.

Indian police had arrested Muhammad Yousuf Naqash from his residence in Srinagar on Tuesday and lodged him at Safa Kadal police station. »

Srinagar, April 07 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) has reiterated its appeal to the people to stay away from the farcical elections process.

The DFP General Secretary, Maulana Abdullah Tari, in a statement issued in Srinagar, said, “These elections are sham. Those who used to raise hue and cry over the oppression are now joining hands with the killers of Muslims. They are political opportunists and legalise every suppressive measure after assuming power”. »

Srinagar, April 07 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, Tehreek-e-Hurriyet Jammu and Kashmir has strongly condemned the unabated arrest spree unleashed by the puppet administration and detention of its leader Mohammad Amin Ahangar of Shopian.

The Tehreek-e-Hurriyet spokesman in a statement issued in Srinagar said detention of Mohammad Amin Ahangar was unjustified as he was a political activist who always conducted his political activities peacefully. »

Srinagar, April 07 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the Chairman of All Parties Hurriyet Conference, Syed Ali Gilani, has urged the international community to take practical steps towards resolution of the Kashmir dispute and help the people of Jammu and Kashmir in their struggle for securing their right to self-determination.

Reacting to the Indian response against the assertion of the US representative in the UN, Nikki Haley, Syed Ali Gilani in a statement in Srinagar said, “The response from Indian authorities vindicates that their stance is unsubstantiated and proves their hold on Jammu and Kashmir as unjustified and unlawful.” Nikki Haley had said that the US would play an active role in de-escalating tension and mediate in facilitating talks between Pakistan and India. »
