Srinagar, February 11 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) has paid glowing tributes to prominent liberation leader, Mohammad Maqbool Butt on his martyrdom anniversary.

The JKLF Chairman, Mohammad Yasin Malik in a statement in Srinagar said, “11th February provides us a new hope and fresh energy to withstand against the forces of evil and oppression.”

Terming Maqbool Butt as a symbol of resistance, resilience and sacrifices, he said that Maqbool Butt was an ideologue who not only offered an idea but also showed the practical way to implement that idea. He was a man of practical, man of wisdom and a visionary who saw a dream, perused that dream with passion and sacrificed his life for the fulfillment of that dream. »

Srinagar, February 11 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, various delegations of Hurriyet leaders and organizations visited Trehgam area of Kupwara, today, and expressed solidarity with the family of noted martyred liberation leader, Muhammad Maqbool Butt, on his martyrdom anniversary.

A delegation of Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party (DFP), on the instructions of party Chairman, Shabbir Ahmad Shah, visited the area and participated in a function held to pay tributes to Maqbool Butt. The delegation included Ghulam Mohammad, Mohammad Ibrahim, Abdul Waheed and other activists. »

Hundreds in Trehgam demand his mortal remains

Srinagar, February 11 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, normal life remained crippled, today, due to complete shutdown on the martyrdom anniversary of prominent martyred liberation leader, Muhammad Maqbool Butt. He was hanged in New Delhi’s Tihar jail on this day in 1984 and was buried in the premises of the prison.

Call for the strike was given by joint resistance leadership comprising Syed Ali Gilani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik. All shops and business establishments remained closed while traffic was off the road.

The puppet authorities imposed restrictions in Srinagar, Trehgam and other towns by making heavy deployment of Indian troops and police personnel to prevent people from staging anti-India demonstrations. The authorities also continued to put pro-freedom leaders including Syed Ali Gilani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, Muhammad Yasin Malik, Shabbir Ahmad Shah, Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai, Nayeem Ahmad Khan, Mukhtar Ahmad Waza, Hilal Ahmed War, Zafar Akbar Butt and Ayaz Akbar under house arrest or in custody to stop them from leading the protests. »

Demand mortal remains of Maqbool Butt

Srinagar, February 11 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, hundreds of people took to streets, today, in Trehgam area of North Kashmir’s Kupwara district to demand the mortal remains of prominent martyred liberation leader, Muhammad Maqbool Butt, on his martyrdom anniversary.

India had executed Muhammad Maqbool Butt in New Delhi’s Tihar Jail on this day in 1984 and buried him in the premises of the prison. »

Srinagar, February 11 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the Chairman of Hurriyet forum, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, has strongly condemned the puppet authorities for imposing curbs in the territory to prevent people from conducting various programmes in connection with the martyrdom anniversaries of prominent martyred leaders, Muhammad Maqbool Butt and Muhammad Afzal Guru.

Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, who is under house arrest in Srinagar in a statement denounced locking down of the Srinagar’s historic Jamai Masjid and sealing of all roads leading to it by Indian armed forces on Friday to foil a march towards the UN office. »

Sahil Zahoor Chonka in an interview in Srinagar said that he was just a kid and was going for tuitions at Khawaja Bazaar when suddenly Indian police bundled him into a vehicle, lodged him at Nowhatta police station and later booked him for stone pelting. »

According to Kashmir Media Service, a team of doctors headed by Dr Gupta performed the operation.

Srinagar, February 11 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the door-to-door survey conducted by India Army’s Rashtriya Rifles in many areas of Bandipora district has caused resentment among the local residents.

Army men have been recording names of family members, and in some cases even seek photographs of the inmates. Army is also registering shops, business establishments and residential houses. Teams of army men have been visiting residential areas to conduct the survey similar to the one carried by local bodies earlier, locals said. »

Jammu, February 11 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the puppet authorities have arrested two youth hailing from Islamabad and Handwara areas for not standing up when Indian anthem was played in Jammu.

The youth did not stand up while the anthem was being played in a cinema hall in Jammu, the other day. They have been identified as Syed Mudasir Ahmad Shah of Neelpora Magam in Handwara and Javaid Ahmad Teli of Hiller Kukernag area of Islamabad. Both have been lodged at Narwal police station in Jammu. »

New Delhi, February 11 (KMS): Noted Kashmiri intellectual, Professor Syed Abdur Rehman Gilani, has termed the hanging of prominent liberation leaders, Muhammad Maqbool Butt and Muhammad Afzal Guru as judicial murder.

Professor SAR Gilani, who was arrested on sedition and other charges for organising an event in connection with the martyrdom anniversary of Afzal Guru at the Press Club in Delhi, last year, in a media interview in New Delhi said that the sedition case was a political drama. »
