Srinagar, August 19 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the pro-liberation leaders have emphasised that the right of self-determination to Kashmiris will solve all the problems people of Kashmir are faced with.
The emphasised was made by the Chairman of the All Parties Hurriyet Conference, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, senior Kashmiri Hurriyet leader, Syed Ali Gilani and the Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front, Muhammad Yasin Malik while addressing a mammoth gathering at Tourists Reception Centre in Srinagar.
Mirwaiz Umar Farooq said that India should fulfil its promises it made to the people of the occupied territory at the international platforms to give Kashmiris right to self-determination. He maintained that the economic blockade against the Kashmir valley and other oppressive tools would not pacify the sentiment of Kashmiri people. Mirwaiz added that India should immediately start a stepwise demilitarisation, repeal all draconian laws and release all the Kashmiri prisoners languishing at various jails of India and occupied Kashmir. The APHC Chairman also demanded the immediate opening of Srinagar- Muzaffarabad highway.
Syed Ali Gilani on the occasion urged India to resolve the Kashmir dispute as per the aspirations of the people of the territory. He said that the Kashmir struggle is based on truth and added that the people will continue to fight peacefully for freedom. He appealed to the international community to play its role to help end the sufferings of Kashmiris.
Muhammad Yasin Malik said, "India should learn a lesson from this gathering and immediately solve the Kashmir dispute as these types of mass revolutions have destroyed huge empires." He said that the Kashmir struggle is based on truth and added that the people will continue to fight peacefully for freedom.
Meanwhile, thousands of people marched towards the United Nations Observers’ Office at Sonawar and presented more than 400 copies of memorandum to the office asking the world body to help resolve Kashmir dispute. Those who presented the memorandums included the liberation leaders, lawyers, doctors, religious scholars, journalists and students besides Sikhs. The participants on the occasion raised slogans in favour of freedom, Pakistan and against India. They also raised some new slogans such as 'Kashmir Ki Mandi Rawalpindi', 'Bharat Teri Mout Aaye, Lashkar Aayee, Laskhar Aaye', 'Khooni Lakeer Tod Do, Aarpar Jod Do'. In the absence of traffic police many young protestors managed the traffic from Jahangir Chowk to Sonwar throughout the day.
