    Troops kill 12 innocent teenagers since Jan 2010: report

    Srinagar, June 29 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, as many as 12 innocent Kashmiris, mostly teenagers have been killed since January, this year, due to the use of brute force by Indian troops on peaceful demonstrators.

    A report published in a local daily ‘Greater Kashmir’ pointed out that the troops of Indian Central Reserve Police Force martyred 9 persons during indiscriminate firing out of the total killed. “Two teenagers died after being hit by teargas canisters fired by the police to quell the peaceful protests while another innocent youth was killed in firing by Indian Border Security Force personnel,” it added.

    The report said that the killing spree this year started on January 8 with the death of 16-year old, Inayat Khan of Dalgate, in unprovoked firing by the CRPF at Budshah Chowk in Srinagar. On January 31, Wamiq Farooq, 13, of Rainawari was killed after a teargas shell fired by the police hit his head.

    It said that Zahid Farooq, 16, was killed when the BSF personnel opened unprovoked firing on him in Nishat area of Srinagar on February 05. A week later, 17-year old Zubair Ahmad Butt was killed when the CRPF personnel forced him to jump into a river and continued to pelt stones on him till he breathed his last.

    The report mentioned that during the past 17 days, eight Kashmiri youth had been killed in unprovoked firing by the troops on peaceful demonstrators.
