    Complete shutdown observed in occupied Kashmir

    Violence against Kashmiri students continues in India

    Srinagar, February 07 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, complete shutdown was observed in all major cities and towns including Srinagar, today, the call for which was given by the veteran Kashmiri Hurriyet leader Syed Ali Gilani to draw world attention towards the miserable plight of the political prisoners languishing in jails.

    All markets, shopping malls and business centres remained closed in the Valley in response to the call. There was thin attendance at banks and government offices. The work at local courts was adversely affected as the lawyers boycotted the proceedings to express solidarity with the illegally detained Kashmiris. The educational institutions are already closed due to winter vacations.

    Srinagar, February 07 (KMS): The High Court Bar Association of occupied Kashmir boycotted the courts on Tuesday as a mark of solidarity with the political prisoners languishing in various jails.

    Srinagar, February 07 (KMS): In yet another incident of violence against Kashmiris, particularly students, in India, police abused, beat, thrashed and harassed a Kashmiri student pursuing engineering at a college in Haryana without any reason.

    Srinagar, February 07 (KMS):  The family of the deceased lawyer and human rights activist, Jaleel Andrabi moved two fresh applications before Chief Judicial Magistrate Srinagar seeking initiation of proceedings against the prime accused, Major Avtar Singh in five FIRs registered against him at different police stations under murder charges.

    Mass petition campaign for Butt’s remains

    Srinagar, February 06 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, complete strike will be observed tomorrow to protest against the shifting of political Kashmiri detainees by the occupation authorities from Central Jail Srinagar to the far-off jails outside the Valley.

    The call for strike has been given by the forum, patronised by the Veteran Kashmiri leader, Syed Ali Gilani, who in a statement issued in Srinagar, today, described the act as unjustified. He said that by doing so the authorities wanted to inflict mental torture on the political detainees.

    JKLF-R prepares mass petition draft to get Butt’s remains

    Srinagar, February 06 (KMS): The Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front-R has said that a draft for mass petition has been prepared, which will be signed by the people from all walks of life, to demand of India to hand over Shaheed Maqbool Butt’s remains to the Kashmiris for respectful burial in the occupied territory.
