    London, February 08 (KMS):  The Amnesty International, a London-based world human rights organization, has reiterated its demand for the repeal of the black law, Armed Forces Special Powers Act from occupied Kashmir.

    Amnesty International’s Director on Asia-Pacific, Sam Zarifi, in a statement posted on the official website of the world human rights body, said that Indian army personnel facing charges of serious violations of human rights must stand trial, instead of hiding behind the controversial Armed Forces Special Powers Act.

    New Delhi, February 08 (KMS): Indian Home Ministry has rejected at least 42 requests to sanction prosecution of military personnel found by the police to have engaged in crimes such as murder, homicide and rape in Kashmir in the past four years, a Delhi-based newspaper reported.

    London, February 08 (KMS): The Amnesty International, the London-based world human rights organisation, has said that Indian army personnel facing charges of serious violations of human rights must stand trial, instead of hiding behind the controversial Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA).

    The Amnesty International, citing the India’s Supreme Court February 4 order, stated that the Indian army could not invoke the AFSPA to avoid the prosecution of eight officers charged with the March 2000 killing of five Kashmiri villagers at Pathribal.
